Marci Marks, a longtime Valley resident, founded the Sherman Oaks Studio City News in 2008. Encino was added to the masthead and distribution area a year later by popular demand. Working as an actress/singer/songwriter early in her career, she performed Shakespeare, blues and jazz. Her band The MnMs released a record in the early '80s that became a punk rock classic. She then joined the LA Weekly as a Writer and the Distribution Manager, developing an award winning free newspaper distribution delivery system written up in The LA Times Business Section. Marci still keeps up her musical chops, you can hear her singing on the recent Go-Gos Tribute Album, If You Gotta Go-Go, Go-Go Now.
